We could not let the festive season pass without seeing Edinburgh
bathed in Christmas lights a few weeks back,
and decided to stay in a completely different part of the city.
Intrigued by the term boutique guesthouse,
we opted for One Royal Circus,
where, as described by Mr. and Mrs. Smith,
we felt like visitors staying over at a friends townhouse…
and for one night had the entire place to ourselves.
The second night one other couple moved in but we only saw them at breakfast.
Not surprising, this comfy spot made the 10 Best list of boutique hotels in Edinburgh,
although we did feel we were cheating on our love relationship with another hotel on the list…
Branching out, north of the city,
allowed us to discover yet another cool area
in what is becoming our 'favorite city' here in Scotland.
Although, we have barely seen the tippy top of the iceberg,
Stockbridge deserves more intense wanderings
because we did not have time to walk the actual Stock Bridge
crossing the Water of Leith.
